A few months back we made the jump from AT&T to Sprint. I can go on for a while about how much more I like Sprint. They have quirks, but so did AT&T - and which carrier doesn’t, really? All I know is that now I’m paying $30/line for unlimited data, text, etc., unlimited mobile to mobile (which is 90% of your calls) and 300 landline minutes/month/line (I typically use about 100-150). That is a *steal*.
Sprint, the network, aside - I also made the switch over to an HTC Hero. I’m *loving* Android and HTC’s Sense UI bridges the gap between the geeky, linux-based flexibility and expandability of Android and a consumer-friendly phone. Not to mention, I really do think it’s about the sleekest-looking phone on the market. Great size, beautiful design - enough buttons, but not too many, good battery life, etc. In short, I love the phone.
Now I’m torn. Later this year, HTC will release the EVO 4G for Sprint. Beautiful. Great looking screen, 1 GHz Snapdragon, 8 MP Camera that records 720p video, 4G(!!)(and easy to tether b/c it’s Android…). There’s just a lot to like (check the EVO link for the full specs from Engadget).
Here’s where I’m torn. The thing is pretty big. I don’t think it looks as good (again, that Hero is just sleek). And with the Android 2.1 update coming soon (please oh please oh please), the Hero’s still got tons of awesomeness in it. I don’t know - is it better to have a mini-computer that can run hardware like a Netbook, or a slightly more compact and still perfectly useful phone (that still does a ton more than phones should be able to do)? Ah, the moral dilemmas of our age.
